President Trump embraced Kurt Suzuki, who wore a “Make America Great Again” cap with an expression of support for the president. Trump gave the 36-year-old catcher a hug for a crowd of millions of people. A great moment of sports history!
“It was amazing,” Suzuki told USA Today via text message.
“That was the president. Just trying to have some fun.”
“Everybody makes everything political. It was about our team winning the World Series.”
Suzuki calls out critics for “making ‘everything political”
Of course Suzuki received negative backlash for his embrace of Trump. He had to Protect his Twitter account afterwards.
Not all champions of the party were at the celebration. Anthony Rendon, Victor Robles and Sean Doolittle, among others, were absent.
