The social media giants Facebook and Instagram had to deal with a worldwide outage for hours on Thursday afternoon. According to DownDetector users worldwide reported having trouble accessing their Instagram and Facebook accounts. The outrage started around 9 a.m.ET Thursday, by. About 70% of Instagram users reported problems accessing their feed. Among Facebook users, 66% said they couldn’t access log-in or else access the service; 32% said they had issues accessing their News Feed.
Instagram issued a statement Thursday on Twitter: “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook’s family of apps, including Instagram,” the tweet said. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
